Time Out says

Learn how to make a refreshing Woodford Reserve Basil & Grapefruit Highball cocktail this Friday with our third Instagram live event

If, like us, you've been working from home the past few weeks, you'll have experienced the particular sting of missing Friday knock-off drinks. And with cocktail bars and whiskey haunts closed around the country, that longing for a professionally mixed concoction is all the more potent. Well, thanks to Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight bourbon whiskey, we've come up with a way you can make a top-notch cocktail with utensils you have at home and scratch your 'TGIF' itch while you're doing it. Sound too good to be true? It's actually easy peasy! Here's how you can get involved.

Where is it?

Put your tools down at 4.30pm on Friday May 8 and fire up your Instagram account. Time Out Melbourne will be going live with global American whiskey brand ambassador of the year, Thalita Alves. Simply tap on the Time Out logo icon (where Instagram stories are) on our page when you see the "Live" label at 4.30pm. In this third iteration, Alves will be showing us how you can make the refreshing Basil & Grapefruit Highball cocktail at home while giving us some background info on American whiskey and Woodford Reserve. Prop your phone up in the kitchen (or wherever you designate your home bar) and follow along. And if you missed our first two live events, never fear: you can watch the first video here and master a Smoked Maple Old Fashioned, or the second video and learn about making a Mint Julep.

What is it?

Woodford Reserve is a small-batch bourbon that is carefully distilled rather than being mass-produced. Each bottle is the result of an artisanal process that elevates the five sources of bourbon flavour – grain, water, fermentation, distillation and aging – for a distinct taste that is all its own. Woodford's distillers regularly release creative limited editions too, with exciting boundary-pushing bottles available every year. We're teaming up with the Woodford crew to bring you delicious and easy cocktails you can make with their elegant bourbon at home.

What do I need?

You're going to want to hop over to BoozeBud tout de suite to order the main ingredients. They will deliver your Woodford Reserve in around one business day (depending on where you live) and are offering a ten per cent discount if you enter the special code "TIMEIN" at checkout. You most likely have all the utensils needed at home, but never fear, Alves will be talking you through accessible alternatives if it's your first foray into DIY mixology.
