Explore the largest display of almond blossom in the southern hemisphere

When Victoria’s almond orchards burst into bloom you know that spring is almost here. This August, you can celebrate the end of winter at the Mallee Almond Blossom Festival. The one-day event takes place in the town of Robinvale on the banks of the Murray and features the largest collection of almond blossoms in the southern hemisphere.

For those unfamiliar with almond blossoms, we can tell you that they are very similar to the more famous cherry blossoms, but are white to pale pink. The festival takes place at Robinvale Community Centre, from which you can hop on a tour ($2) to the local almond farms. While there, you’ll learn more about the almond industry and get the chance to snap a pic of the beautiful flowering trees.

Afterwards, the bus will take you back to the festival precinct where you can grab a snack from a food truck or purchase local products. You'll be able to sample everything from olives, avocados and sultanas to flavoured oils, dressings and local honey. And of course, plenty of almonds.

Music will be provided by the Chantoozies, the Drowning Sorrows and Jett Charman. Kids are welcome too and there will be a jumping castle, outdoor games, puppets and giant slide to keep them entertained.

Entry to the Mallee Almond Blossom is $5 for adults and free for kids under 16.
