Scones with jam and cream (jam first – don't @ me), mini quiches, ribbon sandwiches, sparkling wine and of course hot beverages – who doesn't love high tea? But it can be a bit samey at fancy hotels and restaurants. There is only one venue offering high tea this Mother's Day that is also home to Phar Lap.
Melbourne Museum is putting on a delicious spread of goodies for the occasion, with treats including ribbon sandwiches, mini pies, scones (of course), brownies, mini pavlovas, mini tarts and loose-leaf tea and espresso coffee. For $100 adults can have free-flowing sparkling wine throughout the meal, $90 will get you a single glass of sparkling on arrival, and children's high tea with fresh juice is $43.
There are two sessions, noon and 2.30, leaving you plenty of time before or after to take a stroll in the beautiful Carlton Gardens or learn about Melbourne's fascinating history in the museum itself.
