These days, who communicates using words? It's all about emojis, stickers, GIFs and the last hilarious meme you saved on your phone. They’re part of our everyday vernacular, so much so that often, a joke or a heartfelt message doesn't feel complete without one. We’re also big fans of colourful cartoon stickers, but always dreamed that they could be a little more... Melbourne.

Introducing Bank of Melbourne’s new MelbEmoji Sticker Pack. All 16 of these stickers were designed with Melburnians in mind. Whether you’re going out for a smashed avo brekky, a game of cricket at the ‘G or a run around the Tan, these new stickers will be able to convey it all with the flick of a finger.

Think of them as a local's hat tip for the digital age: they’re here to help us have a little more fun when we’re talking about some of Melbourne’s (most loved) clichés.

To get you excited about the new range of stickers, we thought up uses for four of them, just in case you've overused your go-to crying cat face.

As much as we love Melbourne’s tram system, there are times when our favourite rumbling hunks of metal manage to a) not arrive when they say they would, or b) make a dozen unnecessary stops on seemingly traffic-free roads, hence making us later than Shane Warne on match day.

When to use it: when such (predictable but still very annoying) tram delays occur.

Flinders Street Station’s yellow dome is so iconically Melbourne that there isn’t a single person in Melbourne who hasn’t gazed up at this whopper of a city structure. Flinders Street is also such a popular meeting point that we’d argue the phrase “meet me at the steps” has been uttered at least once by every Melburnian during the station’s 100+ year existence.

When to use it: when you're looking for a central and easily recognisable place to meet a friend in the city.

It's no secret that we've adopted Crowded House's ‘Four Seasons in One Day’ as our unofficial anthem, and you can regularly hear Melburnians humming it under our breath when the weather turns from blisteringly hot to dark and stormy in a matter of minutes. It’s surely why every Melburnian knows that they’ll need both a jumper and sunscreen every day, all day, no matter the time of year.

When to use it: when you need to explain to your friends why you had to rush home to grab your brollie and your sun hat before a night on the town.

Footy is our bread and butter. Actually, scratch that. Footy is our meat pie and half-strength beer. Heading to the ‘G for a game of AFL is a heap of fun, and there’s something so special about jumping out of your seat and yelling “Ball!!!” at the top of your lungs with 100,000 other punters.

When to use it: when you have to cancel plans to head to the preliminary AFL finals and you need to let everyone know where you'll be that night.
