We can all rest easy – this year’s Midsumma Festival will be taking place. Yes, we may have missed its usual summer dates, but the annual LGBTQ+ festival is returning in April (yes, technically not in summer) for a 17-day celebration. While they’re still keeping mum on what else is happening during the festival, we do know one thing: Midsumma is teaming up with Arts Centre Melbourne for a special two-day event at Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
The Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl event will be replacing the usual Midsumma Carnival, as sadly this won’t be able to take place due to government density restrictions. In its place, punters will be able to enjoy two days of free queer live entertainment during the second week of Midsumma Festival.
Taking place on Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1, this event is expected to have a line-up of exciting Australian performers to will be revealed on March 18. For those who can’t make it IRL, the festival will also be livestreaming the event.
Free tickets will be released on March 18 and Midsumma subscribers will be able to access pre-sale early on March 16. The remainder of the tickets will be released on April 9. Find out more on Midsumma’s website.
