If you love all things cute and cuddly, head to Flinders Street Station at 10am this Thursday, November 24 to meet the next generation of seeing eye dogs at the Paws for a Cause puppy caring event.
The event is not only guaranteed to brighten your day, but more importantly, to highlight the need for new puppy carers. The Seeing Eye Dogs foundation is currently on the lookout for 45 new puppy carers who are generous enough to open their homes (and their hearts!) to the next batch of pups before the end of the year. The organisation is searching for volunteers across Melbourne and regional Victoria, including in Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat, and as far north as the Sunshine Coast and North Brisbane areas in Queensland.
The importance of the Seeing Eye Dogs organisation, and the selfless volunteers who dedicate countless time and energy into training the pups each year, cannot be overstated. These puppies will go on to change the lives of someone who is blind or living with low vision, and having the opportunity to be a part of that journey is not only a huge responsibility but a great privilege.
If you have ever thought about getting involved, the Paws for a Cause event is the perfect way to learn more information and see if you've got what it takes. It's worth noting that all puppy carer volunteers are supported along the journey with puppy food, equipment and veterinary costs. There are also a number of flexible puppy caring options, such as six and 12-month caring programs.
