There's a reason most of Melbourne's adult population has fond memories of Perseverance Bar. The Fitzroy bar better known as 'Persa' throws a mean house party every Thursday with plenty of dance anthems, drinks and free entry.
Party night at the Persa will get just a bit wilder Thursday April 19 when things go Greek with a rip-roaring toga party. Put your sheets to good use by tearing them off your bed, fashioning them into a toga and partying like it's 400BC. The best part about a toga party is that there's no need to get into bed after a big night out because you're technically already in bed!
As well as a crowd of handsome, bed sheet-wearing partiers the Persa toga party will be serving lots of drinks for a very affordable $7. Whether you prefer a pint, glass of vino, some bubbly or spirits straight up you can get it for only $7 on toga party night. Plus in the Bacchanalian theme of the evening you can get a $7 Jäger Bomb or one of the Persa party buckets for $15.
DJs will on the decks all night crafting the party soundtrack from some of the biggest, catchiest hits from the naughties till now. You might have work or study the next day but that's no reason not to shake it on the dancefloor till the wee hours of the morning in your very best toga ensemble (extra points if you pair your toga with sandals and a laurel wreath).
Bit of an early bird? Get down to Perserverance Bar before 10pm on the night for a free shot at the bar. While the toga party is happening only on April 19, the Persa house party is on every Thursday night of the year. Doors open at 9pm and entry is free.
