Time Out says

Designed as part of the 1932 Melbourne Centenary celebrations, this garden commemorates the pioneer women’s contribution to the fledgling city in its early days was cut into the side of a hill in the Domain Parklands, its sunken grounds have an enclosed, secluded feel, made all the more impressive by the blue-tiled grotto centrepiece, where a bronze figure of a woman stands under hanging vines.

The careful symmetry of the space and the wide grassed areas is an invitation to choose the perfect corner to sit and listen to the water rushing past, while also catching some sun in one of the carefully designed sun spots.
