Kew's favourite Sicilian trattoria, Mister Bianco, is transforming its dining room, dubbed the Green Room, into a miniature truffle farm for a week, complete with soil, trees and man's best helper, dog. The Truffle Queen, Rachel Truscott, will be educating diners on the process of growing truffles and the hunt before giving a live demonstration in the Green Room. Thankfully, the truffles used in the free demonstration will be real and will be available for sale after the demonstration and used in a truffle-focussed a la carte dinner.
The simulated urban truffle farm will be available from Monday, August 5 to Saturday, August 10, and there will be a specific truffle-focussed menus on the Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Expect dishes like cauliflower and truffle pastries; a red wine and truffle risotto fondue; and a chocolate tartufo with truffle anglaise on the menu. Bookings for dinner are essential through email.
