The Portarlington Mussel Festival is swanning into town for another year, bringing with it ten tonnes of fresh mussels and a full day of family-friendly entertainment.
More than 200 stallholders will be there plus cooking demonstrations, live music, roaming entertainment and a whole lot of fresh local mussels to eat. In solidarity with the sea, the festival says no to plastic straws and is asking attendees to bring their reusable bags to further help reduce waste.
Now running strong for 14 years, entry into this annual treasure is only $5 at the gate (kids free), so come on down and have a mussel about it. No car? Melburnians can catch Port Phillip Ferries direct to Portarlington from Docklands.
