It's summer, which means barbecues all over the country are blazing and countless snags get a grilling. Prahran Market is joining in the Australian summer tradition by hosting their fourth annual Sausage Fest on Sunday February 4. The day's sausage party will be headed by celebrity chef and Prahran Market ambassador Tobie Puttock who will kicks off a snag tasting competition where the general public will be able to vote for their favourite snags cooked by Melbourne chefs.
The market's top butchers and poulterers (AKA sausage artists) are already busy road testing the festival's snags and no flavour is out of bounds, they only need to make sure that they submit a new flavour for the 2018 competition. Last year Gary's Meats took home the trophy with their cheese Kransky sausage, while J&L Meats won the year before with their lamb, spinach and pine nut sausage.
This year attendees will also be able to get amongst a 'create your own sausage' workshop for $15 a head. The market is offering 30 lucky people the chance to create their own unique sausage using three of your own super secret ingredients. More information is available on Prahran Market's website.
