There is a lot to love about Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (read our four-star review here). The music is an absolute blast, and the script sparkles with wit while packing an emotional punch. But perhaps the most memorable thing about the smash-hit musical taking over Melbourne is the costumes.
The exhibition at St Collins Lane celebrates the work of Australian costume designer Tim Chappel for the musical. Chappel won an Oscar for Best Costume Design for the 1994 film, and he returned to the show for its musical incarnation. Expect platform shoes, disco jumpsuits, big wigs and plenty of sequins.
You can see the costume exhibition for free during the duration of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.
