Time Out says

Theoretical physicist Brian Greene is touring the country to remind us we’re all just a blip in the universe

American theoretical physicist, best-selling author and science communicator Professor Brian Greene is famous for explaining some of the universe’s most complicated mysteries to the masses. Now, he’s touring Australia to share his insights about our place in history and the lessons we should learn from the past.

As Greene aptly puts it, “life is physics orchestrated”, so it’s well worth putting in the effort to wrap our heads around concepts like string theory and the timeline of the universe. Don’t be intimidated though – Greene is part philosopher and part physicist, so he won’t get bogged down in equations.

Instead, Greene will cover the story of the universe from the dawn of time to its eventual end (ambitious, we know). This talk promises to be far from a dry lecture. Greene examines life’s biggest existential questions through the lens of not only a scientist with 40 years of experience, but also with a childlike curiosity.

The talk will start with an hour-long fireside chat between Greene and the event host, with half an hour afterwards reserved for a Q&A session with the audience. If you buy a meet-and-greet ticket, you’ll also get the chance to have a more intimate conversation with Professor Greene.

In a time where the world faces compounding challenges from climate change to pandemics, it’s important for all of us to keep our scientific literacy up to scratch. Thankfully, Professor Brian Greene is on the way to help with that mission.

Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
