Get in touch with your inner green thumb for a celebration of spring, gardening and sustainability and get back into gardening with City of Stonnington's Spring into Gardening festival. Taking place at Prahran's beautiful Victoria Gardens, the festival will be hosted by the greenest thumb in Australia: Costa Georgiadis from ABC's Gardening Australia.
The day will feature an exciting program of free expert talks, practical hands-on demonstrations, workshops, market stalls, fun kid-friendly activities and food trucks. Gardeners of all skill levels will get back to basics on the 'Composting with Costa' workshop, where you'll be able to quiz the garden expert in a Q&A session. Stick around and learn how to keep bees in your backyard and to make your own preserves in a workshop run by My Green Garden.
A little short on garden space at home? Small Spaces Garden Design will give you handy tips on growing plants in a limited space, while Fytogreen will run demonstrations on planting ecologically sustainable (not to mention visually beautiful) green walls and roof gardens.
Bring the whole family along and take the kids to a gardening workshop from The Sage Garden, where they'll be able to learn how to set up a worm farm and take away their own planted seed to watch it grow at home. Other free hands-on activities kids and parents will want to get in on include terrarium workshops by Candy Sparkles and See Make Play, and sustainable craft classes with Trash Puppets and Emma Grace.
Over 30 market stalls will be offering specialist gardening products and plants. Check out teams from local community gardens, and green stalls from Cool Cactus, Town and Country Gardens, and Wormlovers.
