Time Out says

Nothing tastes better than summer evenings and campfire dinners

Pope Joan is bringing back its summer camp cookouts this December. For 12 nights starting December 5, Pope Joan chef Matt Wilkinson will be firing up the barbie and serving a range of smokey, seasonal dishes.

If camp cooking gives you flashbacks to charred snags and tinned spaghetti don’t fret: fare at these campfire dinners is significantly more refined. You can look forward to dishes like tender chargrilled lamb, turkey and chicken hearts as well as Spanish mackerel, mussels, oysters, squid, smoked veg and the rather ominous (but probably tasty) ‘things in tins’.

To finish off, the nearby Pie Shop (also run by the Pope Joan group) will be serving their peach, lemon verbena and raspberry pie for dessert. It all takes place in Pope Joan’s cute backyard behind their Nicholson Street store from 6pm.

Pope Joan’s summer camp cookouts run Tuesday to Friday between December 5-22. Bookings are recommended.
