A tide of Swiss and Italian migrants came to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs in the 1850s, and many decided to settle due in the region to the region's similarity to their European homelands. Today the twin towns celebrate their heritage with their Swiss Italian Festa held in October every year.
The five day festival has something for everyone: history, music, art and lots and lots of food. Past events have included an Italian breakfast, a lantern parade, aperitivo afternoons with Italian music, a Scopa (card) tournament and long lunches in vineyards. Viva la dolce vita alla Swiss Italian Festa!
