Party with thousands of revellers on Sydney Road to mark the start of the Brunswick Music Festival

It's just about time again for the Sydney Road Street Party, a much-loved one-day fiesta championing the arts, culture and community of Moreland.

Running since 1989, this free multicultural celebration bustles with music, food, performance, maker stalls, dance, games and more along a glorious 800m stretch of Sydney Road from Union to Victoria Street as part of the Brunswick Music Festival.

Given that the action takes place across ten main sites, you might want to plan your journey in advance. On the Victoria Street Stage at 3pm, you could catch Brunswick-based dance troupe Bey Dance perform some of Beyoncé's big numbers (and then stick around for a dance workshop). Over at the Oxygen Stage at 5pm, you could see a set by Wil Wagner (of Smith Street Band fame), and at the Iramoo Stage at 2.30pm, you could boogie to funk and soulsters Arthur Penn and the Funky Ten, followed by a performance by Bindaas Bollywood Dancers. If circus is your thing, then you'll struggle to tie yourself away from the Skyscraper Stage, where Westside Circus will be unleashing free aerial shows and workshops for virtually the entire day.

And that's just the beginning – see the full website for details, and check out our not-to-miss gigs of the Brunswick Music Festival.
