Childhood should be more focused on burning energy on the playground than what’s going on at home. But for thousands of children across Australia, that’s not the reality. For more than two decades, Mirabel Foundation has worked to provide tangible support to children who have been impacted by parental substance use, and now its new campaign ‘Childhood is Precious’ is encouraging Aussies to take action.

With a goal to bring about social change and protect the childhoods of thousands in need, making a lasting impact is no easy feat. That’s why donations matter more than ever. If you want to get behind this good cause, Mirabel is open to one-off or regular donations of as little as $2 and more.

All funds go towards delivering specialist support to children and the grandparents, relatives and kinship carers who step in to raise them. Your donation could also contribute to Mirabel’s many programs, which include everything from support services to tutoring and group activities that bring young people together. These initiatives create space for kids to build confidence and just be kids again.

The impact of every donation adds up. A contribution of $250 can cover the cost of a child’s sporting activity, $1,000 can provide a year of tutoring and educational assistance for one child, and $5,000 can help fund programs for five children over the course of a year.

Community backing – through donations and volunteers – is key to keeping this incredible organisation running. If you want to get involved or learn more about the Childhood is Precious initiative, head here.
