Strap on your skates for this launch party on wheels

Get down to Lilydale this weekend for the Victorian Skating Centre launch party. The venue is under new management, with big plans for the bright blue skating hub.

Ever dreamt of gliding around like a pro? The launch party will feature demonstrations of current and new skating classes you can sign up for so you can be skating up a storm in no time. There will also be live music from cellist Michael Arvo (who is launching regular low-sensory skate sessions for people sensitive to sound) and a roller disco headed by DJ Matt Maestro, who will be spinning tunes until 8pm.

The centre is home to the Lilydale Rats inline hockey team as well as a cohort of figure skating students who will be strutting (skating) their stuff. The launch party will also have food available for purchase, with the centre relaunch including more healthy food options on the menu. BYO inline or roller skates or hire them on the day: skate hire is just $2.

The Victorian Skating Centre launch party kicks off at 4pm on Saturday June 30. Entry is $5 online or $6 at the door.
