There's nothing particularly summery about the wind-whipped Isle of Islay in Scotland. It's more craggy cliffs and wild seas than gentle breezes and golden sand. But this island in the Inner Hebrides is known as the home of some of the finest whisky in the world – and if you think whisky is not a summer drink, think again.
The Vale Bar and Eatery is pairing Bruichladdich whisky with fine seafood to kick off summer in style. The four-course meal (with oysters on arrival, of course) showcases the freshest seafood alongside whisky that complements it beautifully.
In addition to the oysters, the fish include ceviche, octopus and salmon, each perfectly matched to a Bruichladdich whisky in a classic cocktail. The final dessert course is paired with Bruichladdich Octomore 08.1, which is served neat to give you the opportunity to savour this heavily peated whisky.
Tickets are $133, or if you're not a whisky fan, you can get just the seafood degustation for $70.
