The Winemakers of Rutherglen will not let Victoria’s longest-running wine festival be stopped in 2020. Assemble your group and decide on a dress-up theme because Winery Walkabout is going online in June.
The digital take on the annual festival means that you can get amongst the boozed-up fun from pretty much anywhere. It will be packed with online masterclasses, wine chats and live entertainment from the likes of headliner and festival favourite DJ experience Hot Dub Time Machine, as well as blues musician Ash Grunwald and folk-rock duo the Pierce Brothers.
Instead of a ticket, festival-goers purchase a wine pack for $85, which includes four bottles of Rutherglen wine with free delivery. The day of festivities will go down on Saturday, June 6, from noon-6pm with the festival livestream hosted by television personality Tim Campbell streaming from a private Facebook group. This is no ‘tune in and check out’ event though, the day will be marked by a series of competitive activities, challenges and games with the chance to win points for your team and be crowned the Winery Walkabout the House 2020 ‘Team of the Year’.
If this all sounds like the kind of fun you’ve been pining for at home, there are a few steps you’ll need to take to prepare for your day of boozy, costumed festivities. Before the event you’ll need to rally together and register your team, decide on a theme and pull together costumes, and make sure everyone purchases their wine pack/ticket.
Head to the website to register and check off all the steps, and prepare your bodies for a winetastic time.
