Here in Melbourne we’re pretty lucky to have the lush, verdant plains of the Yarra Valley right on our doorstep. The region's rich soils produce some of the state's finest wine and produce – so why not celebrate the place that gives us so much? That’s exactly what riverside pub the General Assembly are doing with a weekend of food and drink from one of Victoria’s best agricultural areas.

Yarra Valley by the Yarra involves two days of eating and drinking the best the Yarra Valley has to offer while sitting by the picturesque Yarra River at South Wharf. Start your regional food feast with canapés topped with Yarra Valley caviar and preserves from Jam Lady Jam. Love a good slab of steak? The General Assembly will be expertly cooking grass-fed beef in their smokey wood-fired Josper oven and teaming it up with handmade pasta courtesy of Lisa Colaneri from Yarra Valley Pasta. There will be also be delightful dairy treats thanks to Yarra Valley Dairy.

As anyone in Melbourne can tell you, the Yarra Valley is known as much for its drinks as for its food. If you’re here for the vino you won’t leave disappointed with Punt Road wines making an appearance. Get excited by cider? Napoleone will be providing the goods with their small batch, 100 per cent fruit juice cider. There’ll also be Four Pillars gin for those partial to a G&T.

Food is for sharing and you’ll be able to share Yarra Valley by the Yarra with the whole family – the two day event is family friendly. Keep everyone from baby to grandma entertained with games like giant jenga and live acoustic music throughout the afternoon. Head down to the General Assembly from midday on Saturday January 20 and Sunday January 21 for an afternoon of top Victorian produce.
