Time Out says

To celebrate the new release Single Vineyard wines, Yering Station is bringing the cellar door to your lounge room

Spring has most certainly sprung, and with warm weather on the way there’s nothing we Victorians love more than enjoying a glass (or two!) of local wine. And after the success of last year's virtual tasting, the team at Yering Station – the state’s very first vineyard, and a five-star Halliday Wine Companion rated winery – is offering you the exclusive opportunity to once again enjoy the cellar door experience from the comfort of your home.

At 7pm on Thursday, October 13 you’re invited to join Yering Station’s chief winemaker, Brendan Hawker, for a one-hour virtual tasting session that will showcase the winery’s five new release Single Vineyard wines. Simply purchase the tasting pack (which includes 5 x 100ml bottles of these new releases) and it will be delivered to your doorstep, along with special access to a private Zoom event.

Most importantly (and because we have a hunch you’re all dying to know), here are the wines up for sampling: a 2022 riesling, 2021 chardonnay, 2021 pinot noir, 2021 sangiovese and a 2020 shiraz.

While we’re not choosing favourites just yet, we hear the riesling is a crisp drop with notes of apple, citrus and white blossom in the flavour profile, and that the shiraz is complex and rich. And wait until you sip the pinot noir – beautifully balanced and deeply satisfying, it has amazing poise between the fruity and savoury elements.

"These Single Vineyard releases are site expressive wines where we as winemakers take a back seat to let their unique terroir do the talking," says chief winemaker, Brendan Hawker.

"The sites selected are from some of our best, regularly being important components of our Reserve blends. And while these Village releases might not be the usual, varietal suspects of Yarra Valley, they too are Single Vineyard wines that have been grown and made with care, showing what a diverse and fabulous region the Yarra Valley is to grow grapes.”

The new release Single Vineyard wines will be available from October. Admission to Yering Station’s virtual event costs $65 (that price includes your tasting pack), plus a $10 flat fee for delivery Australia-wide. Tickets can be purchased here.
