Time Out says

From provocative performances to party-starting fun, this mini-festival brings the best bite-sized cabaret to Ballarat for just four days

Ballarat Cabaret Festival has a new artistic director this year: theatre-maker, cabaret artist, comedian, 3RRR broadcaster and author Fiona Scott-Norman. In her first program you'll find heroes of the genre (including Dolly Diamond, Debra Byrne and beloved eight-piece jazz combo The Bachelors From Prague) doing what they do best, alongside old dogs doing new tricks (Paul McDermott is teaming up with Tripod's Gatesy for a brand new show), and hot young talents with award-winning original material (Green Room Award-winner Jude Perl, and Festival favourite Gillian Cosgriff ).

At a loose end? Head to the Lost Ones Basement Bar from 9.30pm on Friday and Saturday nights to have a sing-along and request a tune from Festival favourite Trevor Jones and his Key Party Piano Bar. Entry is free.
