[title]Love Thai food? Love a good party? Then come join Time Out and the Tourism Authority of Thailand at the Village People Hawker Food Hall’s Upside Bar on Tuesday February 19, which will be transformed into a mini-Bangkok for one night only. A Night in Bangkok will feature authentic Thai flavours plus ice cold Singha beers and oriental cocktails. You’ll also be in with a chance to win a trip to Bangkok and Phuket.
Guests will be treated to an array of food as they watch chefs cooking up a storm at the food stations. Canapés will include ma hor (caramelised pork, prawn and peanuts with pineapple), miang som-o (pomelo betel leaf, lemongrass, chilli and roasted coconut), plaa plar (cured kingfish with green nahm jim) and gai satay (chicken satay with peanut sauce).
There will be larger bowls of massaman kae (lamb massaman curry and peanuts on rice) and pad Thai noodles. Most of the treats will be gluten-free, and some will be vegetarian/vegan.
The cocktail list will feature a Thai Sour (vodka, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, yuzu juice, lychee juice, simple syrup) and an Apricot Spritz (Lillet Blanc, apricot liqueur, soda, sparkling wine). There will also be wines from Babich, Duck Shoot and Ingram Road, James Squire Orchard Crush Apple Cider and NV Vallate Prosecco, and Singha beer – what could be more Thai?
Later in the night the venue will transform into a karaoke parlour in true Thai style and everyone is welcome to participate.
Best of all? One lucky attendee will score a trip for two to food capital Bangkok and the Pearl of Andaman, Phuket, worth over $4,000, courtesy of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The grand prize includes:
