The High Line has always been a wonderful place for all ages to escape their busy lives and take a breath of fresh air as they stroll along the elevated park. This summer, families can look forward to the return of the High Line's monthly “Make It!” series. Beginning June 24, kids can enjoy dancing, music and crafts with local artisans and performers.

The summer series kicks off June 24 with “Make It Verde!” with the Lower East Side’s Loisaida Center (High Line at 14th St, 10am–1pm). Families will plant seeds in the High Line’s mobile garden and kids that are super into creepy crawlies will love exploring the park's worm bin. Interactive sculpture art collective Poncili Creacion will share stories, dancers-in-residency The Brandon Project will perform for the crowd and all can make their mark on a mural art project. A portion of the day’s event will be offered in Spanish.

Come back July 29 when Abya Yala Arte y Cultura presents “Make It Rooted!,” where kids can learn about different traditions and ecosystems through dance, art, music and storytelling (High Line at 14th St, 10am–1pm). In August, “Make It Move!” will be all about getting those bodies dancing with the Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band as well as designing movable creations with the Children’s Workyard Kit (High Line at 14th St, August 26 10am–1pm). And during “Make It Rusty!” families can try their hands at constructing industrial mixed-media garden sculptures that transform as they age, hear stories about the past from Story Pirates and enjoy live performances (High Line at 14th St, September 23 10am–1pm).

The “Make It!” series is geared towards children up to 12 years old. For more info on the summer series and other fun family events hosted by the High Line, check out thehighline.org/activities.
