The faint of heart might want to avert their eyes.
There's been a lot of buzz about the Long Island Children's Museum, considering it's about to welcome a bunch of creepy, crawly friends with multiple legs and eyes for the ninth annual Bug Bonanza. The summer kick-off event on July 1 at 12:30pm will feature a variety of activities for youngsters to enjoy. They can channel their favorite insect while getting their faces painted, let their creativity soar with DIY bug-inspired crafts and contribute to the making of an eco-friendly sculpture with Louise Bourgeois’ work as the muse.

But for some, these activities are not enough. For those kiddos who are a lot braver than we give them credit for, they can learn more about different species by actually holding them. Some of these bad boys can look pretty intimidating, so it might take a little courage before youngsters start playing around.
Fortunately, if your tykes are more inclined to enjoy these creatures from a distance, there's a lot to love about a new experience at Bug Bonanza. “This year we’re super-charging the event with the addition of an unforgettable theater experience that involves all our visitors," Aimee Terzulli, LICM director of education and visitor experience said in a statement. "Ants," by Australia's Polyglot Theatre will be a new interactive offer that will leave the crowds buzzing with even more excitement.
