It’s time to get your head in the game.

NYC parks are celebrating girls' strength with She’s On Point,” the annual event series that is dedicated to young women's success in sports. The 2018 programs will kick off on Feb 3 at 11 am in Hansborough Recreation Center, and it’s the perfect way to spend a Saturday.

This weekend’s lineup is certainly a bit out of the ordinary, yet jam-packed with fun. New York might be in the middle of a cool down, but participants will be able to enjoy a day of kayaking, water aerobics and water basketball. Not looking to take a dip? Event goers can try their hand at badminton, soccer, pickle ball and arts and crafts.

“We look to showcase a variety of sports that are available for girls and draw participants into new areas of play,” Emily Chase, assistant commissioner for public programs at NYC Parks, tells Time Out New York Kids. “We look to include all girls (ages 6–17) who come to participate.”

Regardless of the activity, the goal remains the same.

“The events are about these girls and young women realizing their own potential and abilities,” Chase also tells us. “When we see that happening in real time, we know we’ve done our job.”
