Knuffle Bunny could call the Park Slope Library his new home

A cute cottontail might soon call the Park Slope Public Library his permanent rabbit hole.

Community Board 6 overwhelmingly favors the construction of an 18-24 inch statue of the beloved Knuffle Bunny, which will be permanently fastened to the seats of the new outdoor storytelling garden. What better companion to keep the kids company when they're listening to a good story?

Knuffle Bunny is the brainchild behind artist and children's book writer Mo Willems. His beloved Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale follows a Brooklyn toddler who misplaces her stuffed bunny in a neighborhood laundromat. Naturally, this little fella would be a fitting addition to the community, considering he is already familiar with the nabe.

Though he has left his paw prints on the hearts of many Slopers, there are a few additional hops to take before the project becomes a reality. The city still needs to give the statue (which will cost the Friends of the Park Slope Library an estimated $6,000) the green light, according to Patch. Should this project continue, it's expected that Knuffle Bunny will join the kiddos by the spring of 2019 for events.

This outdoor garden is a little bibliophile's heaven, and there's no better place to harness kids' love for literature. Though our little cutie hasn't arrived at the space yet, this facility is still a perfect spot to read a few kids books, start making a splash with summer reading programs and of course take advantage of the best storytimes for kids in NYC.
