No doubt about it, fall is here. The bins at the greenmarket are piled high with apples and pears, the leaves are changing color and the roller skating rink at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park is about to pack it up for the season: This is your last weekend to lace up a pair of roller skates and scoot around under that memorable canopy painted an electric shade of cobalt blue.

Since it opened in 2013, the LeFrak Center has offered some of the best roller skating in NYC. There is so much to love about it: the location by Prospect Park Lake, the views of Duck Island and that amazing ceiling. We also appreciate the amenities, the roomy bathrooms and the full-service Bluestone Café. It's always nice to punctuate a day filled with outdoor activities for kids by sitting down for a drink and a bite.

Still, it's time to say goodbye for now. The rink will be open Friday, Oct 11 noon-6pm, Saturday, Oct 12 10am-7pm, Oct 13 noon-5pm and Monday, Oct 14 noon-6pm—usually the rink is closed Mondays, but the center will be open for the holiday. Don't let the sendoff get you down. We have plenty of ideas for other super-fun fall activities for kids

Besides, after the roller skates go to hibernate the ice skates will come out to play: The soft opening date for ice skating season will be Friday, Oct 25, weather permitting according to the website. The cost to skate is $10 and skate rentals are $7.
