We might be hibernating inside (making the most out of fun indoor activities for kids) but our minds are on the outdoors.

Hudson River Park just revealed renderings for Pier 97, and judging from the plans, it'll be one of our go-to summer hangouts. The 680’ x 120’ space is opposite W 57th St and has been empty since its 2013 reconstruction, so it's only time that the area is put to good use.

According to reps from the Hudson River Park Trust, there will be a children's playscape (likely a forthcoming addition to our list of best kids' playgrounds in NYC), a water playground for kids, a sports field, an all-ages slide for the young and young at heart, a comfort station, food stand and, naturally, gorgeous waterfront views. And that's just to name just a few! We're longing for summer just thinking about this project!

Have a look at the plans for Pier 97:

Neat, right? Well, there's still some time before you can make a visit—the project gets underway in fall 2020 and will be complete in 2022, according to predictions.

In the meantime, if there are a few (fairly) warm days left, take the fun to the newly opened Bloomingdale Playground on the Upper West Side. The $7.1 million makeover resulted in a recreation area with a basketball court, a turf field, adult workout machines, sitting areas, a water spray zone and ADA-compliant equipment.
Not too shabby!
