UPDATE: This offer has been extended through May 2020.

Photographing children and pets can feel like a near-impossible challenge, even for the skilled shutterbugs among us.

Fortunately, Nikon is here to help parents wrangle their two most unpredictable sources into a professional pose thanks to a series of free classes this April. Ready the SLR and join lifestyle photographer and Nikon Ambassador Tamara Lackey for "Photographing Children and Pets." The hour-long video will explain the best settings and lenses to use when you're trying to capture the range of feelings and emotions your little ones are going through (and, as moms and dads know, there are plenty).

If you're going to be spending time in, might as well make the most out of it by sprucing up your photo skills and putting friends' Instagram feeds to shame. (No need to thank us.) We can't wait to see what adorable portraiture awaits!

If you're looking for ways to keep your kiddos engaged in a creative project, too, check out places online where you can snag free coloring books or give one of these free Disney drawing classes a go!
