Park Slope Moms TV show captures a different side of the Brooklyn nabe

Park Slope is the mecca for Brooklyn parents in search of a place to call home. However, a potential new TV series might prove that the family-friendly nirvana complete with brownstone-lined streets and mom-and-pop shops isn't necessarily what it appears.

Alexandra Foucard, co-writer of the show Park Slope Moms alongside Linda Fiorella, focuses the dark women's comedy on a PTA board gone wrong. Not unlike the neighborhood's reality, its stars are sporting their trademark yoga pants and causing quite a stir amid bake sales and various other school activities.

Foucard, an actress herself, felt inspired to take this story of the Brooklyn family matriarch to a new levels. While en route to an acting class, which required a weekly fictional monologue, she overheard two mothers arguing over a child's punishment for his or her wrongdoing. "I thought, 'I could really go to town on this,'" Foucard tells Time Out New York Kids. From there, the storyline grew and the team (which includes award-winning director Annetta Marion) is looking to make its way to TVs across the five boroughs (and then some).

"It lends itself to endless story lines," Foucard adds. Her protagonist, Carley Fuller-Fowler (whom she'll play), is the stay-at-home mom who should have never left her law firm. Considering she rules the PTA like she would an attorney's office, the other women in the group, Nina Stansfield (to be played by Irene Glezos), Angela Pollo (to be played by Zillah Glory) and Monica Wyche's name (to be played by Paula Osterberg) are looking for ways to take down their queen.

"As insane as these women get with their quest for power, at some point everyone has to come together," Foucard adds. "These women ultimately strive to do that. [But] everyone has their idea of what's good, and therein lies the problem."

The show is currently in the fundraising phase and will host a table reading in silent auction on Apr 9 in (where else?) Park Slope at Brooklyn Burgers and Beer. The event kicks off at 7pm. Get ready for some fun, Brooklyn mamas! Get updates about Park Slope Moms  here
