Prospect Park Zoo offers an epic freebie for kids this weekend

It’s certainly good to be a kid.

Little ones can reap the benefits of youth in Brooklyn this weekend by taking advantage of a freebie. In celebration of spring and its season opening, Prospect Park will provide free admission to the zoo for kids 12 and under all weekend from 11am-4pm. Sorry adults, you are still required to pay the admission fee of $8.

In between scheduled events for opening weekend—family yoga at 8:30am on Saturday, a scavenger hunt on Saturday at noon, nature exploration tours both days at 10am—you and your crew can take a stroll around the grounds to see what Brooklyn’s coolest residents have been up to. Nothing says “Hello spring,” like a trip to see 400+ animals of over 100 various species, right?

But before you and your tiny zoo-goers get attached to this whole idea of “spring”— perhaps a myth and something we might not experience in 2018—reports have circulated that we’re due to receive another bout of winter weather. Don’t sweat it, though—Prospect Park will also provide one last chance for a lap around the ice rink. From noon-9 pm on Saturday and noon-5pm on Sunday. Admission is $10 and skate rentals are $7.

We’ll see you at the park. Fingers crossed that the weather will be tolerable.
