According to reports from NBC on Thursday, Mar 22, the Toys "R" Us liquidation sales have been postponed due to "circumstances beyond our control." Reports suggest that the sales are likely to begin on Friday, Mar 23.
It's officially the end of an era.
Our hearts are heavy now that we've come to the realization that Toys “R” Us will close or sell its 800+ stores across the country. However, a few deals might ease our grief, if only temporarily.
The store's liquidation sales are beginning on Mar 22, according to CNN, and experts believe the shelves will empty anywhere between 30–60 days. If wish to say your final goodbyes to a fan-favorite destination (and if you need to stock up for your child's birthday), now is the time to make a pitstop.
Earlier this year, the beloved kids' company had filed for bankruptcy, but we remained hopeful that the bad times would come to a close. "The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Brandon wrote in a statement in early 2018. "We also intend to convert a number of locations into co-branded Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores. The actions we are taking are necessary to give us the best chance to emerge from our bankruptcy proceedings as a more viable and competitive company."
The business met a different fate, and it's kind of hard to picture kids today not having the experience of picking out their first bikes at Toys "R" Us or taking a stroll through the stuffed animal selection. We have to stay positive and know that kiddos will still have that magical moment where they discover their favorite childhood toy. Oh Geoffrey, we miss you already!
