We've been impressed lately with Dumbo's resiliency in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy: Neighborhood mainstay powerHouse Books is up and running after its storefront was flooded (and it went ahead with the opening of its Park Slope offshoot), while a new indoor play space is coming this weekend to Susan Lazar's Egg Baby. On Sunday, December 9, the hip kids' boutique will unveil its new Playroom at the Egg, which will serve not only as a drop-in indoor play space but also as a neighborhood hub for kids' and adults' classes. Stop by with your crew on opening day to fete the spot with gratis entertainment, raffles and a sampling of future offerings for ages newborn to 5. John Carlin's Music Underground kicks off the festivities at 10am, and AudraRox keeps families pumped up with a sing-along (11am). Then, your tot can dabble in yoga (noon), fairy tale theater (2pm) or percussion (3:30pm) until wrapping up with a bilingual puppet show (5pm). You may just find your little ones clamoring to come back when classes start in January 2013!
Egg Baby is located at 72 Jay St between Front and Water Sts, Dumbo, Brooklyn (347-356-4097, egg-baby.com).
