Governors Ball is usually one of the most-anticipated summer concerts in NYC alongside Central Park SummerStageBRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! at Prospect Park and the Northside Festival. Gov Ball, which usually competes for talent with major events like Coachella and Austin City Limits, is scheduled for the fall this year. After being canceled last summer because of the pandemic, organizers are hopeful it can finally go forward with a new layout.

The event will bring big-name rappers, beloved veteran acts, rising pop stars and more to Citi Field this year. Here’s our complete guide to the Gov Ball experience.

Governors Ball 2019 lineup brings old friends and new faces

Now that New Year's hangovers are finally starting to fade and we've had time to revisit the best albums of 2018, it's time to start making some plans for the year ahead. Last week Coachella announced its lineup, with Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala as the headliners. Now the Governors Ball lineup is here. The 2019 Governors Ball Festival (May 31–June 2 at Randalls Island) brings Tyler the Creator, the Strokes and Florence & the Machine in the top slots. For the Strokes it'll be the band's third appearance at the festival. Florence & the Machine too is a repeat visitor, having played the fest in 2015. Along with those there's a sizaeable amount of recent breakout acts including hip-hop group Brockhampton, Harlem rapper Sheck Wes, Kanye collaborator 070Shake and Bay Area rap crew SOB X RBE. Anyone who enjoyed last year's critical hits like Kacey Musgraves's Golden Hour, Mitski's Be the Cowboy or 1975's A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships will be pleased to see them on the lineup. In fact a good chunk of the acts playing had outstanding records in 2018, so maybe don't close that best albums tab quite yet. Tickets are on sale now for the fest (including a small today-only "announcement day" discount).   Governors Ball 2019 Lineup The Strokes Florence + The Machine Tyler, The Creator Nas Sza Major Lazer The 1975 Lil Wayne   Brockhampton Gesaffelstein Jorja Smith Kacey Musgraves Zhu Vince Staples Blood Orange Lord Huron Sheck Wes Beast Coast (Joey Bada$$ + Flatbush Zombies) Louis The Child Kaytranada Bazzi The Internet Playboi Carti Mitski   Lily Allen Mø Ty Dolla $ign Noname Charli XXCX Jessie Reyez King Princess Bob Moses Denzel Curry Clairo Hippo Campus Ravyn Lenae Saba Amber Mark The Voidz Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever Cautious Clay Jeremy Zucker Chelsea Cutler 070shake Sob X Rbe Parcels Elohim Sunflower Bean U.S. Girls Calpurnia Taylor Bennett Dennis Lloyd Soccer Mommy Miles Kane Dreamers Still Woozy Hundredth Njomza Jack Harlow Suzi Wu Aaron Aye Easy Life Shaed The Underachievers Kirk Knight Nyck Caution Tobi Lou Ric Wilson Deal Casino Mkultra

Governors Ball 2019 food and drink lineup includes lobster grilled cheese

Gov Ball 2019 is back this year with an all-star musical line-up of Mitski to Lil Wayne. If you're looking for things to do this Spring, the music festival might be up your alley. One of the most overlooked elements of a good festival experience is the food (just look at Smorgasburg!) But since Gov Ball is kind of remote (located on Randall's Island), unless you plan to sneak in a turkey club for on-the-go bites between the acts, you'll probably want to head to their food vendors. This year, the familiar faces are megahits Roberta's, MatchaBar, Big Mozz, DŌ, Takumi Taco, Might Quinn's BBQ, Van Leeuwen, Cafe Habana, Beyond Sushi, Melt Shop and Lil' Sweet Chick (by Sweet Chick). In addition to new food and drink vendors joining this year, Gov Ball will also introduce limited-edition food mash-ups and collaborations such as a lobster grilled cheese or fried pickles. Many of the dishes accommodate vegans, gluten-free and other dietary restrictions so that everyone has something to eat while trapped on the island. There will also be craft cocktails, wine, beer and coffee available to fuel you into late night dancing.  New Vendors Joining This Year Cousins Maine Lobster: Lobster Tots, Lobster Tacos, Lobster Grilled Cheese, etc. Walter's: Grilled Hot Dogs Mekelburg's: Hot Chicken Sandwich & Babka Poppers Milk & Cream Cereal Bar: soft serve topped with cereal mix-in's  King David Tacos: Texas style tacos Arancini Bros: "Gov Ball & Beyond" vegan taco ball (using Beyond Meat) Exclusive New Collaborations/Mash-ups Melt Shop X King David Tacos: Tots & Queso Doughnuttery X The Nugget Spot: Doughnut Fried Chicken slider Big Mozz X Grillo's Pickles: Fried Pickles Rise Brewing X Davey's Ice Cream: Affogato The full line-up of food and drink vendors can be viewed, here.  Governors Ball 2019 takes place Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, 2019 and can be accessed by ferry.
