Just a few months ago, we asked you what kind of food you wanted to see at the latest Time Out Market in Union Square. And let's just say, you let us have it. Suggestions for juicy smashed burgers, foldable pizza slices and two-fisted sandwiches flooded our comment section (and even this editor's personal email address). We hear you, we see you, and now, after months of planning, we are just about ready to feed you.
Now the secret is out. Today, we are announcing the seven restaurants and chefs who are coming on board at the new Time Out Market Union Square. Soon to be cooking at 124 East 14th Street inside Zero Irving, our line-up of talent will wow you with Caribbean patties, flame-grilled kebabs and Michelin-rated tacos, all in one place. So start spreading the word: here's who and what you can look forward to at Time Out Market Union Square next month:
Critically acclaimed chef Kwame Onwuachi is bringing his Caribbean patty stand, Patty Palace, to the Market: Since 2022, we've come along with Kwame Onwuachi as he journeyed through his upbringing in New York at the wildly successful, award-winning and perpetually popular restaurant, Tatiana. Now, Onwuachi continues his ode to the city by channeling his favorite childhood snack: the Jamaican patty. Following successful stalls at CitiField and a truck parked outside his Lincoln Center restaurant, Onwuachi’s installment of Patty Palace at the Market will expand on his curried chicken iteration, adding simmering beef and jerk mushrooms to the mix. Oh, and as is tradition, it is all wrapped in coco bread.
The Unapologetic Foods crew is harnessing the energy of a Delhi night market with Kebabwala: Roni Mazumdar and chef Chintan Pandya had a simple mission when they teamed up all those years ago: champion the real, regional cuisine found across India. Several James Beard Awards and one Michelin star later, it would be easy to say a job well done. Yet, the team is never quite finished sharing the foods from their homeland, and we are forever thankful that their next chapter will be told at the Market. Channeling the energy of a night market, Kebabwala will serve kebabs and skewers, all over an open flame.

Michelin-rated tacos? You must be talking about Taqueria El Chato: New York has truly been blessed in the taco department as of late. And there has been no bigger blessing than Taqueria El Chato. Previous owners of Greenpoint’s Michelin-rated Aldama, Chris Reyes and chef Gerardo Alcaraz's taquerias have been pleasing the residents of Greenpoint and, as of this year, the West Village with their succinct listing of tacos, vampiras and quesadillas. Now, the duo is bringing all the hits to the Market, from the fatty and juicy al pastor, shaved fresh from the trompo, to smoky mushrooms, all served on handmade tortillas.
Famed Thai chef (and award-winning pitmaster!) of Kam Rai Thai is coming to the Market: Chef Dhanapol "Oak" Marprasert’s first spark for the kitchen came from watching his mother prepare meals for his family while growing up in Thailand. He took to culinary school to further explore the regionalities of his heritage, eventually taking his talents to the States—first to Tennessee, where he picked up a barbecue habit, and then onto the bright lights of New York. Alongside his wife Jiraporn "Jina" Tisopa, the couple has since introduced the bold flavors of the region to Astoria, Hudson Yards and soon to be, Union Square. Operating a second outpost of their beloved Astoria restaurant, Kam Rai Thai, chef Oak is bringing a slew of contemporary Thai eats to Manhattan, via smoky grilled pork buns, khao soi with confit chicken in a rich coconut curry and his fan-favorite dish: wok-charred pad see ew.

Fornino makes its first foray into Manhattan: Michael Ayoub is a bit of a legend in the pizza scene, credited with igniting the artisanal pizza craze that took hold in the early 2000s. With his restaurant Fornino—also his mother's maiden name—chef Ayoub's passion for all-things pizza translates to quality ingredients, blistered crusts and bold, thoughtful flavor combinations. Now, Fornino is bringing its signature pies to Manhattan for the first time at Time Out Market New York, Union Square—joining the new location after becoming a longtime favorite at Time Out Market New York in Dumbo. Alongside his famous pies, the new location will also introduce salads, sandwiches and seasonal specials sourced from Union Square Greenmarket.
The burger you deserve is coming in hot from Lori Jayne: Tucked away in Bushwick’s version of a dive, chef-owner Sam Braverman was cooking some of the best steak frites in the city at Lori Jayne. But if you've ever peeped his Rolodex of recipes on Instagram—from milk bread shrimp toast to pork belly burgers—you'd surely understand that Braverman is more than just a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy. So for the next iteration of Lori Jayne, the chef will explore some of his other favorite comforts, starting with the all-American classic that is the burger. His signature LJ Burger will be making an appearance with all the caramelized onions and a juicy thickle, aka a thick pickle, accompanied by crispy Sichuan shrooms, frozen cups of custard that rotate and a Buffalo chicken sandwich.
Paninoteca by Anthony is all about sandwiches with heart: Anthony Valois spent the majority of his career on Wall Street. And while his days mainly dealt in numbers and stocks, most of the joys of his job came from feeding his coworkers. And so he left it all behind, diving headfirst into the competitive world of barbecue, even running his own smoke shop in Staten Island. But in 2022, he returned to his Italian roots by way of the sandwich, launching Anthony's Paninoteca. His Staten Island shop goes above the standard sub, as Valois is found curing and smoking pastrami and tying up pork loin to make his crackly-coated porchetta. And it is not just us saying that his sammies soar, as his roast beef sandwich made it to The New York Times list of 57 Sandwiches That Define New York City.
As if that wasn’t enough, our Market will soon be here to quench your thirst, too. Soon the taps will be flowing, and the bar will be ready to fill your glass with a curated selection of wine or beer, plus a full list of craft cocktails. The Market will also feature a Coffee & Pastry counter, stocked with some of the best selections around the city. Caffeinated kicks will be supplied by Coffee Project NY, offering specialty espresso drinks alongside cold brew from La Colombe. We’ve also got a rotating selection of fine foods, including croissants, egg muffins and navettes from Épicerie Boulud (yes, of the Daniel Boulud fame); pillowy, gooey cinnamon rolls from Sunday Morning; buttery shortbreads from the insanely talented chef Scottish Francis of Shortbread Society; and the iconic banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery will be available too, next to their brownies and signature New York-style cheesecakes.
