As Valentine's Day approaches, our collective attention turns toward all things romantic. And, like true New Yorkers, we can't think of anything more romantic than a cozy meal consumed at one of our favorite restaurants.

Along those lines, it seems worth sharing this survey undertaken by OpenTable of the most romantic eateries in the United States, split by state.

Surprisingly, the two New York entries on the list are not located in Manhattan or Brooklyn. They're not even in Queens, believe it or not! Both destinations are found upstate in Erie County.

The first one, Giancarlo's in Williamsville, is a Sicilian steakhouse that also serves brick-oven pizzas and pastas. Lucia's on the Lake, in Hamburg, is also an Italian restaurant, this one offering lake views and a beautiful rooftop patio. Picture us not surprised at the fact that Italians know how to do romance properly.

You've got a few weeks until Valentine's Day, so maybe this is a sign you should start planning a trip upstate! You can even rent a castle overlooking a lake! Or, perhaps, spend some time looking for this gorgeous secret library in the woods before devouring iconic state foods on a the 200-mile Upstate Eats Food Trail.
