We’re officially over fast-fizzling wellness fads that don’t get to the root of things. These days, wellness takes on a more holistic approach, starting from within – and bathhouses are increasingly becoming part of everyday self-care rituals. Think toasty onsen-like hot pools, cold plunges, and steamy saunas for a full-on reset. And no, this isn’t just another bougie new social media trend. Rooted in age-old traditional practices from around the world but with a modern spin, these top bathhouses and ice bath spas in Singapore invite you to sit back and soak, reaping a whole lot of benefits like better sleep, a clearer mind, eased muscles, and an overall lifted mood. Time to take the plunge.

There’s been much debate surrounding its name: ‘Nowhere’ versus ‘now here’. Whether it’s about escaping the everyday or being fully present in the moment, both interpretations of Nowhere Baths are up our alley either way. Set atop the scenic Dempsey Hill, this calming thermal bathhouse is shrouded in greenery, with cave-like interiors washed in soft neutrals. You have two forest-facing 40°C pools to pick from – an epsom salt bath and a cloud bath with nanobubbles – along with a sauna, steam room, and cold plunge.

Why we love it: Nowhere Baths also hosts occasional wellness events,  including past offerings such as forest therapy, sound baths, and submersion yoga. And while gender-neutral, the facility has ladies-only Mondays and silent ‘hush hours’ on Wednesday evenings for a truly tranquil escape.

Address: 4A Dempsey Rd, Singapore 249669
Opening hours: Mon 10am-9pm; Tue-Fri 8am-9pm; Sat-Sun 9am-9pm
Admission fees: $55 for for two hours

Trust the ReFormd Group to know best about post-workout recovery. For the uninitiated, this local fitness giant has multiple namesake gyms across the island and also owns the Singaporean arm of the popular BFT (Body Fit Training) gym chain that your fitspo friends frequent. “Enter weary, exit whole” – this slogan is plastered across the entrance, and it’s safe to say that your experience will live up to that promise.

Why we love it: It’s all about the little thoughtful touches: premium bathroom amenities from Aesop and Dyson, Himalayan salt electrolytes to rehydrate your system between dips, and even compression boots to help soothe sore muscles. In addition to a 90°C sauna and a warm salt pool, this wellness facility offers not one, not two, but three levels of cold plunges, with the iciest plunging to 3°C.

Address: 1 Raffles Link, #01-01, Singapore 039393
Opening hours: Daily 7am-10pm

Ice bucket challenge, anyone? Try it at The Ice Bath Club’s Duxton outlet. It’s more of a cold bucket shower rather than anything to do with the viral social media trend from back in the day, but this’ll give worn-out folks a much-needed jolt before you make your rounds through the hot magnesium salt bath, two ice baths, and a social sauna. Read our review of Ice Bath Club Duxton here.

Why we love it: It’s not just a dip-and-go sitch. All Ice Bath Club outlets in Singapore have their own wellness café where you can hang with friends or fellow regulars over coffee, refreshing acai bowls, protein smoothies, and healthy sandwiches – the perfect way to kickstart your day on an invigorated note.

Address: Three outlets in Singapore, located at East Coast, River Valley, and Duxton. Find the full list of addresses and opening hours here.
Admission fees: From $45 per visit

Set within the sprawling lifestyle complex that is New Bahru, Hideaway is one of the more luxurious picks on this list – one look at its tea lounge cum reception area is already telling of that. But this modern bathhouse by the same owner behind Trapeze Rec Club is by no means unwelcoming, with its warm tones and jewel-toned accents creating an instantly alluring vibe.

Why we love it: Unlike other communal contrast therapy spas, which will have you soaking in a broth full of strangers, Hideaway stays true to its name with semi-private pods – each with its own infrared sauna and cold plunge tub – and a fully private suite. But if you don’t fly solo, feel free to share this gift of rejuvenation with up to three friends for a small additional fee of $20. Round it off with a deep tissue or meridian massage, or get a good kneading of your pressure points with foot or hand reflexology.

Address: 46 Kim Yam Rd, #05-07/08 New Bahru, Singapore 239351
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 11am-10pm; Sat-Sun 10am-10pm
Admission fees: From $60 for one hour

This is about as close as it gets to the true blue Japanese onsen experience in Singapore, and by that, we mean the sort where you’re in the buff – complete with traditional communal seated showers lined up against a wall. Not to worry about awkward shoulder-bumping moments, though, as Joya Onsen’s gender-segregated nude baths are super spacious – think the size of a small condo pool. Each one also has a sauna and small ice pool. But if you’re shy, or planning a steamy surprise for your boo *wink*, cosy private onsens are also up for booking.

Why we love it: The onsen water here is often switched up according to seasons: sakura in spring, ramune in summer, red wine in autumn, and milk in winter. Even the post-soak experience feels authentic; Dry off and slip into a yukata of your choosing before heading over to the adjacent tatami café for Hokkaido milk desserts, Japanese sweets, or even full meals of sukiyaki.

Address: 511 Upper Jurong Rd, #01-06 D’Arena, Singapore 638366
Opening hours: Daily 10.30am-10.30pm
Admission fees: Up to $44 per visit

Looking at the tagged photos of Plunge Club on Instagram, we don’t blame you if you mistake it for a rave spot at first glance. Mood lighting in neon hues gives it a party-like mood, and you’ll often find the venue playing host to kimono dance parties, DJ nights, and singles socials – fully sober, of course, since wellness is the name of the game.

Why we love it: In addition to a traditional Finnish sauna and two ice baths at different temperatures, another highlight of Plunge Club is its recovery and listening lounge, designed with a sense of community in mind. Plus, its location at North Canal Road makes it easy for those working in the Central Business District to pop by before or after the grind, or even squeeze in a quickie during lunch.

Address: 38 North Canal Rd, Level 3, Singapore 059294
Opening hours: Mon-Thu 7am-9pm; Fri 7am-10pm; Sat 8am-10pm; Sun 8am-9pm
Admission fees: From $38 per visit

Home to Singapore’s largest Finnish sauna, Reva Social Wellness at board sports venue Trifecta is a breezy semi-open space equipped with a 41°C jacuzzi pool, and two ice pools offering varying intensities of cold. It’s almost reminiscent of a beach club, with a convivial atmosphere and views of Trifecta’s surf pool as you soak and sweat it out in rotation. Hungry? Wander over to Riders’ Lounge for hearty focaccia sandwiches and sourdough pizza by Yeast Side.

Why we love it: $38 for a full-day pass, even during peak hours? We’re sold. But it gets even better. Keep your eye on Reva’s weekly schedule of one-for-one entry specials, as well as guided programmes like sauna pilates, which both members and drop-in visitors can enjoy with other like-minded peeps at no extra cost.

Inspired by the relaxed vibe of Bondi Beach, Ice Faction approaches recovery with a fun, social aspect, and its layout helps facilitate that. A tiered rest area sits between two cold plunge pools, opposite a 40°C magnesium bath, encouraging lighthearted chit-chat between strangers who could soon turn into friends. The in-house café, which serves protein smoothies, fresh fruit juice, and light bites, also doubles as a social lounge, offering more opportunities for interaction.

Why we love it: Much thought went into its design, with tropical beachy decor in the bath area and gorgeous mermaid-esque turquoise tiles adorning the steam room. Spot surfboard motifs all around, too. Calming, but with character – just the way we like it.
