Planning a staycation with your significant other is a great way to spend quality time away from prying eyes. Not all rooms are created equally, however, and only some ooze the required amount of sensuality and ambience for the ultimate sexy getaway. And what goes hand-in-hand with a lovey-dovey hotel? A mega romantic restaurant in which to satiate that appetite you'll inevitably have worked up. So pack the candles, pop the bubbly and prepare to slip between some silky sheets at one of Singapore's sexiest hotel rooms.

Right in the heart of Kampong Glam, Hotel Clover 33 at Jalan Sultan isn’t an immediate frontrunner for Singapore’s sexiest hotels. But considering that it’s set in a stretch of heritage shophouses and each room is thoughtfully styled in rich, warm tones – it’s a boutique hotel we’ll save for our next weekend retreat. Their Premier Garden suite is a ground-level room that comes with your own private garden and patio.

Not just a weekend haunt for Universal Studios Singapore, but Sentosa’s also home to The Outpost Hotel Sentosa. This five-star, adults-only hotel doesn’t compromise one bit, with all 193 guest rooms inspired by Singapore’s colonial heritage. You can expect classy black-and-white bungalow-style finishings in each room and many other perks: free bar snacks, a welcome mocktail, and even a rooftop breakfast buffet.

It’s not just rooftop bar Mr. Stork and stunning décor at Andaz Hotel but floor-to-ceiling windows and rain showers are part of the package. If you upgrade to the Andaz Residence Suite King, you’ll also have panoramic views of the skyline and the picturesque Marina Bay area. High rollers might also want to consider their Presidential Suite for the ultimate stay away from home.

Despite its whiskey library with more than 1,000 rare bottles from around the world, Vagabond Club isn’t just a gentleman’s club – they know how to do romance properly. The hotel suites here are lavish, to say the least, with 400-thread-count Egyptian sheets and Italian marble bathrooms. If you can afford it, it’s their Vagabond Executive Club Suite that’s an easy choice for a sexy staycay weekend.

If you didn't get it from the name alone, The Scarlet is a sexy hotel. Even the textures and colours of the decor, along with the mood lighting, provide the perfect ambience in which to turn the heat up. The best room on the block? The Passion Suite. It offers ultimate intimacy with a private terrace complete with a jacuzzi, a grand king-sized four-poster bed and an en suite. There's also a complimentary minibar and a pillow menu. Ooh la la.

Forget Bali, the Capella offers all the sensual remote island vibes you could want without leaving the city. Simply book the intimate Constellation Room, which comes a personal balcony – complete with an indulgent private jacuzzi and views of the sea or beautiful landscaped gardens. Spread across lush greenery, Sofitel Singapore Resort & Spa offers luxurious resort-styled accommodation with sweeping views of the sunset at Sentosa Island's iconic Tanjong Beach. What's a more romantic setting for a weekend away with bae? Book the opulent Imperial Suite, which oozes romance and old-world charm thanks to its sumptuously dark wood, velvet and marble textures. Put your sexual wiles to the test throughout various spaces, including a separate living/dining room that seats eight, private study and walk-in wardrobe.

Spend a night in complete privacy at one of Amara Sanctuary's Larkhill Terrace Suites. Sitting in a separate block to the rest of the resort, this handful of suites boast their own private patios, complete with an outdoor free-standing tub and day bed, plus louvred doors that open directly onto a 50m lap pool (one of the largest on the property) that's shared between the suites but overlooks verdant foliage. There's also an accompanying wading pool and whirlpool for exclusive use of the Larkhill Terrace residents. There's relatively low light pollution on this stretch of Sentosa too, which affords you poolside stargazing opportunities on clear nights.

The Pool Terrace rooms at the Marriott are probably the best-kept secret around Orchard Road. The sombre hues of the lobby may give the impression of a staid business hotel, but these exclusive rooms, which open directly onto the pool, will give many Balinese resorts a run for their money. Of the nine Pool Terrace rooms, only three include a private poolside cabana, but they all come with circular deep-soaking tubs in the spa-esque en suites and M Club Lounge access, which includes free food, cocktails and garment pressing (two per day).

The St Regis Singapore's guestrooms ooze class and romance, especially the Premier Specialty Suite. It features elegant floral wallpaper, an oppulent and ridiculously spacious separate living room with its own powder room, and a bathroom with a window into the bedroom so the action can get extra steamy. Floor-to-ceiling windows also allow panoramic views of the botanic garden and Downtown Singapore.
