Scoot is adding two new Indonesian destinations to its roster – the airline will launch twice-weekly flights to Belitung starting May 3, 2026, and three weekly flights to Pontianak starting June 29, 2026. Both routes will be operated by the Embraer E190-E2 – a smaller aircraft that makes it easier for Scoot to tap into less-crowded, under-the-radar regional spots.

If you haven’t been: Belitung, located off the eastern coast of Sumatra, offers a slower, more pared-back alternative to Indonesia’s busier beach hotspots – all granite outcrops, clear waters, and relatively untouched coastlines. The island is best known for Tanjung Tinggi Beach, made famous by the Indonesian film Laskar Pelangi, as well as Tanjung Kelayang, the main jumping-off point for island-hopping routes to nearby islets and snorkelling spots.

On the other hand, Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan, sits directly on the equator and is shaped as much by geography as by its riverside location by the Kapuas River. It’s a city where food does most of the talking – from choi pan (steamed vegetable dumplings) and kwe cap (rice noodle soup) to layered Chinese-Malay influences that show up in everything from street snacks to heritage dishes. There’s also the Equator Monument – a neat photo stop where you can quite literally stand on the line dividing the northern and southern hemispheres.

This initiative isn’t the airline’s first expansion move in recent times either. Parent carrier Singapore Airlines is launching daily direct flights to Hangzhou from June 1, while Scoot has been on a quiet roll – with routes to Okinawa, Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, and Chiang Rai added just last August.

This brings Scoot’s network to 85 destinations across 18 countries and territories, alongside a broader increase in flight frequencies across key routes including Bali, Jakarta, Phuket and Vienna – all in time for the mid-year holiday rush.

Fares start from $99 to Belitung and $129 to Pontianak (one-way, inclusive of taxes), with bookings now open via Scoot’s website or app.
