Do you have what it takes to be part of the crew?

Often billing themselves as elite communities, these members-only clubs may as well be the modern-day equivalent of secret societies – albeit far more glamorous. Being part of the crew could set you back a few thousand but the perks make it well worth it. Pray you made the (waiting) list and you’ll be sipping bespoke cocktails with the crème de la crème soon enough.

In the meantime, it won't hurt to look the part. Men, head to these cool barbershops to get groomed, look sharp in a suit at these bespoke tailors and get sipping at these cocktail bars. Ladies, get your tresses treated at these hair salons and nails polished at these salons. No time to head out? These mobile beauty services will come to pamper you in your own home before any event.

  • Outram

For the progressive

Mandala Club prides itself in celebrating diversity amidst community. Start the day with nourish bowls and let Asian bar bites and craft beers take you well into the night. There’s even a hidden Tasting Room – filled with the club’s private collection of fine wines and spirits – where masterclasses and ad-hoc events are frequently held. To work off the guilt, head to the boutique gym where you’ll sweat it out with a personal trainer or simply choose to go at your own pace. Being a member here grants also you access to Straits Clan’s roster of equally exclusive sister clubs all across the globe – everywhere from Paris and Milan to Greece.

For the workaholic

Penthouses alone may be fancy enough for John Does like you and I but the plush interiors of the Tower Club are where the business elite reside. From private dining suites and bars to a wellness centre, the prestigious venue offers an elegant and intimate setting conducive for networking and entertainment – why squeeze in with the masses when you’ve got cash to splash.

For the enigmatic

Named after the decade in which Robertson Quay was opened, the upscale members' club houses everything from private dining areas and grooming salons to a fancy bar. Keep an eye out for their extensive calendar of events that includes secret suppers, salon nights and parties. Aligned with their mission to meld business with pleasure, 1880 also moonlights as a co-working space for members who would rather catch up with work. To give you an idea of just how posh 1880 is, let’s just say that the reception desk is made from a 1.5 tonne chunk of rose quartz.

The Business Club
  • Things to do
  • City Hall

For the pragmatic

You may know The Great Room for its hospitality-driven co-working spaces but between warm cookies and brass furnishings, the space is home to The Business Club. The club caters to those who want in on various perks offered – luxe lounges, meeting rooms and entertainment suites to name a few – without the strings of having a designated office space. Before you get too excited, memberships are by Community nomination only so you might want to start lobbying your friends who are members there.

  • Tanjong Pagar

For the nostalgic

Once a gathering place for the local Chinese community, the restored property now stands as an exclusive members-only club – membership here is capped at 250 people. Apart from retaining many of the building’s original features, the heritage-filled club continues to innovate by introducing modern elements like multi-purpose spaces that are used to host an enticing lineup of lifestyle events.

  • Newton

For the traditional

The Tanglin Club stands proud as one of Singapore’s oldest and most prominent social clubs. Beyond its central location, the club offers a diverse range of facilities – everything from well-appointed suites to a jackpot room. Public pools not cutting it for you? Take a dip in the swanky swimming pool – if you’re a member, that is.
