It’s Vegas, baby! Qantas has announced it is launching non-stop Sydney to Las Vegas flights this year. From December 29, 2026, the Flying Kangaroo will run this seasonal service until March 12, 2027, with flights departing three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner will ensure you’re there in just under 14 hours – that’s a saving of five hours compared with current one-stop itineraries.
Flight QF55 leaves Sydney at 9pm and lands in Las Vegas at 3.55pm local time – giving you plenty of time to hit the Strip (don't miss the Bellagio fountains), catch a show or head straight for the blackjack and buffet. The new route marks Qantas's 101st destination and its fifth mainland US city, joining Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and New York.
Of course, there's far more to Vegas than casinos and neon lights. The city hosts major events like the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), attracts world-class concerts and sporting events, and serves as the perfect point for adventures through the American Southwest (hello, Grand Canyon).
More than 250,000 Australians already visit Las Vegas every year, making us the city's largest international market without a direct flight – until now. Better still, it will make it easier for Americans to discover Australia and all that we have to offer.
This direct flight means there's no time wasted in stopovers and more time to do what you will once you touch down. As the saying goes, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
