Western Sydney is growing at a pretty rapid rate – with an international airport, an indoor ski resort, new parks and public spaces and a whole new CBD in the works. And if you’re planning on visiting, there’s a new place to stay in the making – complete with 184 rooms, an Italian-inspired restaurant and bar and a resort-style pool. Atura Oran Park will be the fifth Australian outpost of the neighbourhood-focused Atura hotel brand, and its location just 20 minutes from the new Western Sydney International Airport could make it a prime spot for a pre-holiday sleepover.

According to the team, the hotel has been designed as a local hangout as well as a place for travellers to rest pre- or post-flight. When it opens (an exact date is yet to be announced), we can expect modern rooms and suites, an Italian-inspired restaurant and bar, a resort-style pool and terrace, plus lots of communal spaces. The hotel is also reportedly set to have a strong connection to the area's history – built as part of the Perich family's long-term vision for the former Oran Park Raceway, with its design drawing on the region's motorsport ties.

As mentioned above, location-wise, it's in a pretty handy spot. Atura Oran Park will be just 20 minutes from Western Sydney International Airport, which will bring a major boost to the region when it opens. According to the team, Oran Park itself is expected to grow to more than 50,000 residents over the coming decades – making it one of Australia's biggest master-planned communities.

“We’re opening at a time when South Western Sydney is experiencing extraordinary growth and momentum,” said Shannon Craig, area general manager of Atura Oran Park. “Being the closest hotel to the new Western Sydney International Airport puts us in a commanding position to support travellers in and out of Sydney.”

According to Craig, the hotel has been designed to feel “open, vibrant and full of energy”, with generous outdoor areas and communal spaces intended to bring people together. And the Perich family (the owners of the development), say the hotel is part of a much bigger vision for Oran Park.

“Every element of Oran Park has been thoughtfully considered to create a connected and thriving community, and we wanted our first hotel to reflect that same approach,” said Mark Perich. “It wasn't simply about finding a hotel operator. It was about finding a brand that would become part of the fabric of the community.”

That people-first approach is apparently central to Atura's offering, with existing hotels in Blacktown, Albury, Dandenong and Adelaide Airport. An opening date for this one is yet to be announced – we’ll keep you posted. You can learn more over here.
