From August 1 to 15, M+ the museum of visual culture in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, presents their third Hackathon, ‘City of Objects’, in a free, two-week-long online design orientated workshop, at the end of which there will be a competition and prize.
The programme is coordinated by veteran designers Chun-wo Pat and Christian Marc Schmidt, who will invite cultural enthusiasts, students, artists and technologists to immerse themselves into a space revolving around the concept of objects, all through various lenses - ones that delve into personal and cultural identities, and virtuality. Participants can join individually or as a team to create projects that encapsulate visual culture context. Additionally, no prior knowledge of coding is required to take part and any software and techniques are welcomed.
The final presentations will be evaluated by M+ staff and external judges for prizes consisting of $10,000 for first place and $5,000 for the first runner up. See the programme’s online platform for the schedule and registration details. Shanti Parmanand
