Tikitiki Bowling Bar

An epic combination of ten-lanes’-worth of bowling, a wide range of drinks and a live music venue, Tikitiki Bowling Bar isn’t the kind of dingy, scuffed around the edges bowling alley you might have hung around as a kid.

As the name suggests, the bar is adorned with Polynesian emblems – Hawaiian ornaments hug the corners of a large wooden bar alongside the palm trees in the lounge area that overlook the stage reserved for live music performances. Together with the colourful light fixtures, which build on the tropical feel of the place, Tikitiki Bowling Bar really does feel like a veritable ongoing luau.

As with any good party, appetising food and drinks are essential. We begin by ordering the crispy calamari with garlicky aioli ($66) and gingerprawn spring rolls with Thai chilli dip ($75). The calamari is deliciously tender and while it isn’t quite as crispy as we expected, it’s well-coated and the aioli dip is a perfect compliment. The prawn spring rolls are juicy and succulent. Using whole prawns, each roll is a satisfying entrée and pairs well with the accompanying sauce.

Having emptied our plates, we decide to wash it all down with one of the bar’s signature cocktails. First off, we select the Sense of Love ($118) – a concoction of Hennessy VSOP, peach schnapps and chocolate bitters. We’re immediately impressed by the incredible presentation, served in a bamboo cup surrounded by dry ice in a coconut shell. Even better, the flavours match the description – smooth and velvety cognac and peach in combination with a bitter backend really gives us a ‘sense of love’. Next, we order up a Soultini ($118), a mix of Stolichnaya vodka, strawberry liqueur and pineapple. As sweet as it sounds, if you’re a fan of fruit-based cocktails, this drink is for you.

Tikitiki is a fun spot, in every sense of the word. Drop by for a game of bowling or satisfy your appetite with the large portions of tasty fare, or simply come for the live music and delightful drinks. This place has a bit of everything for everyone, so come on, get the party started! Crystal Chan
