The vibe
Scarcely a month old, this immaculately decorated bar has caught the boudoir / burlesque fever that has hit Soho. Aqua and charcoal walls adorned with the sexiest of Alberto Vargas’ pinup girls surround the eclectic (mock?) antique furniture over its two-levels.
The drink
Cocktails are the specialty here. Skip past the passé dacquiris and martinis and jump straight to the unique, specialty concoctions such as the Pouting Puss, Alchemist, Green Fairy or, our pick, the Siam Old Fashion ($70). Consisting of lemongrass and chilli infused vodka, apple schnapps and apple juice, it’s delightfully delicious until the gentle chilli-burn hits the back of your throat.
The entertainment
The various Varga Lounge coasters, featuring the classic 40s sexpots can keep you one entertained for hours. But there’s no live music or DJ to speak of – just chilled beats to accompany the cocktails and conversations. The regulars Everybody from the young, beautiful and cool to the wealthy and suited, this place is designed for the feather boa crowd. This place should be a hip ‘n’ happening new Soho spot but, unfortunately, hasn’t really got off the ground yet.
