Asia's first healthy vending machine comes to Hong Kong

Nosh, known for their convenient delivery and takeaway healthy meals under 550 calories, are taking healthy fast food to the next level and tapping into a niche that'll do health conscious Hong Kongers some favours in the clean eats department.

The healthy meal planners have set up a salad, soup and drinks vending machine at the main entrance of HKUST in Clearwater Bay and they’re also looking to expand to corporate spaces, hospital networks, and schools. We could probably do with one at the Time Out office if we’re honest, and skip the chocolate bars and packets of crisps.

Here's a peek at some of the healthy options available:

nosh chicken cobb salad

This free range chicken cobb salad is packed full of corn, cherry tomatoes, crunchy romaine lettuce, boiled egg, avocado, endives, satisfyingly salty bacon bits and tangy blue cheese with a vinaigrette dressing. Not bad considering it’s under 400 calories and contains 24 grams of protein.

One for the veggies, this superfood salad is full of protein-packing quinoa, green beans, cucumbers, green and yellow courgette, carrots, pickled beets, parsley, creamy hummus and everyone’s favourite superfood kale, complete with a smooth sesame dressing. It’s low carb, full of protein and around 350 calories.

Our favourite is the chilled salmon and quinoa bowl that comes with mixed greens, edamame, cucumber, red onion, Thai batons asparagus and a honey dijon dressing. With sustainably sourced Norwegian salmon, a whopping 46 grams of protein and a rich fibre content, this salad provides more than a bang for it’s buck, considering all these salads are priced at $55. It’s a bit of bargain and a small price to pay to not chow down on McDonald’s every day to save the cents.
