Hong Kong gym chain Epic MMA closes

Following a written announcement yesterday, gym chain Epic MMA is now closed. Notices have been pinned up at the chain’s six locations in Hong Kong declaring ‘that the operation of the Company has been suspended with immediate effect’. One member of the chain who spoke to Time Out, and wished to remain anonymous, said he received no prior warning and only learned of the closure this morning via an online forum. The notice of liquidation that has been published provides no explanation for the closure and the chain’s website is now ‘closed for maintenance’. 

Last year saw the closure of another gym chain, California Fitness, which, at the time, left an estimated 100,000 members and 500 employees in limbo. Hopefully for all involved, a similar situation is not repeated in this instance.
